Jesus Makes Us One

There are many walls that can divide us from other Christians such as denominational affiliation, doctrinal disagreements, age, gender, ethnic background, political persuasion, and socio-economic status. The love of Jesus Christ is stifled when we allow these barriers to separate us. Jesus tore down all of these dividing walls of hostility when died on the cross. Ephesians 2.14 says “For he himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, 15 by abolishing in his flesh the law with its commandments and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace, 16 and in this one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility.” When, by faith, we stand together at the foot of his cross we are overwhelmed by his love. All arguments cease, all hostility ends, all we see is Jesus suffering for our sins. Together we stand amazed by his love and grace. Together we say “Jesus is Lord”.
